Student Newspaper

Post

The Crocker Chronicle is a quarterly publication produced by 4th-, 5th- and 6th-grade students.

Newspaper content is decided by students. Student reporters interview people and write stories about subjects related to our school. Student photographers take pictures of article subjects and at school events to accompany stories. These stories and photographs are decided upon by the Chronicle news staff, with guidance from parent advisers. Students learn how to ask questions, write in newspaper format, and select good quotes.

Student artists draw cartoons related to the school or subjects appropriate for elementary students. Students also create puzzles. Student critics write reviews of movies, books, and restaurants that are likely to be seen or visited by Crocker/Riverside students. A student editorial board (made up of all interested newspaper staffers) decides upon a topic and, as a group, writes an editorial for each issue.

Students are welcome to join the newspaper staff at any time, but are encouraged to begin early in the quarter.
